June 15, 2009 - August 24, 2009 (During Mall Hours): Register to Win to become an Honorary Batboy/Batgirl for the Iowa Cubs

Register now through August at Customer Service for an opportunity to win with the Iowa Cubs. Children ages 3-12 can register to become an honorary bat boy/bat girl with the Iowa Cubs. Winner will be contacted by phone two weeks in advance. April- September 2009 home games only. See complete rules & regulations available at Customer Service.

Each winner will receive:
4 Club Box Seats
The honor of throwing out a ceremonial first pitch
A mini-bat from the Backstop Store
Name in lights on the Iowa Cubs Video board
A commemorative certificate

July 4, 2009 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.): Fourth of July

Merle Hay Mall will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Movie Theatre, Bowling Alley and Department store hours may vary.

July 6, 2009 (7:30 a.m.-9 a.m.): Free Blood Pressure Checks

Iowa Health will provide free blood pressure checks in Merle Hay Mall’s Center Court.

July 6, 2009 (10 a.m.-): Franklin Avenue Library to Open July 6

This is a great time for customers to check out that epic novel or heavy historical fiction. All questions about holds or due dates, should call 283-4152 ext 2 for details.

July 9, 2009 (5 p.m.-): All Left Out at Hot Topic

July 13, 2009 (2 p.m.-): Kevin Pokorny presented by Franklin Avenue Library

Enjoy the creative spirit with Kevin Pokorny and his friend Schmudlick as they sing songs, play the guitar, and read stories in the Lower Bridge Court. Children's participation in this fun program is a must! All questions should be directed to the Library, 515-283-4152.

July 17, 2009 - July 19, 2009: Summer Bargain Blowout Sale

It's Summer Bargain Blowout at Merle Hay Mall. With mall wide clearance sales and fantastic savings, it is a must attend event of the summer.

July 17, 2009 (7 p.m.-): Graduated Failure at Hot Topic

July 18, 2009 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.): Summer Bargain Blowout Activities on Saturday

On Saturday, July 18 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. jump on the inflatables located throughout the mall. Also from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. enjoy free popcorn and ice cream sandwiches near Old Navy, while supplies last. At 11 a.m. Mad Science of Central Iowa will perform their “!nnovat!ions” show. The show will include a guest appearance by a famous scientist of the past. Kid volunteers will be needed from the audience! It’s a must see show for the whole family. After the show, from Noon-2 p.m. Mad Science will be on hand to help kids make a T-Rex tooth cast that they can take home, while supplies last.

July 19, 2009 (Noon-3 p.m.): Summer Bargain Blowout Activities on Sunday

On Sunday, July 19 the inflatable slide returns from Noon-3 p.m. in the Lower Bridge Court. Then at 2 p.m. its Wendy’s Wiggle, Jiggle and Jam near the Food Court. It's time to move to the music when you hear the guitar playing and great singing with Wendy's Wiggle, Jiggle and Jam! Now is your chance to see your child as a star on stage with puppets, masks or instruments. In a Wiggle, Jiggle and Jam concert, every child at the show gets an opportunity to be a leader for part of the program. Parents and kids alike have a great time singing and dancing.
